Summary
As a Proposal Coordinator at GCW, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our firm through securing new work. In this position, you will support the Business Development team by working with GCW’s engineering professionals to develop well-written, winning proposals. The Proposal Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the development and creation of large-scale project proposals and statement of qualifications (SOQs) for civil engineering industry-focused proposals.
This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage projects, multi-task, and meet multiple deadlines. Since 1969, GCW has been providing innovative engineering solutions to clients in Nevada. Our 160+ professionals provide civil and structural engineering, survey, and construction management services for both private and public clients in transportation, flood control, master planning, land development, and water and wastewater sectors. GCW is growing and we are searching for a Proposal Manager who can lead our proposals in Nevada and surrounding areas.
Essential Responsibilities

- Position is in office.
- Coordinate with senior and principal engineering staff to develop technical proposals and other marketing collateral.
- Compose and edit proposal content including project descriptions, resumes of key staff, and other information needed to appropriately and concisely respond to evaluation criteria.
- Develop proposals, graphics, covers and dividers. Prepare corresponding interview presentations.
- Lead or attend kickoff meetings, assist in strategy development, prepare schedules and outlines for documents development, review, and production.
- Work with other staff on the Marketing team to ensure that all needed content for active or anticipated proposals are developed.
- Manage and maintain all company qualifications and proposal-related content, such as resumes and project descriptions.
- Monitor RFP posting sites and circulate potential opportunities to senior leadership for consideration.
- Edit technical documents for grammar and content as part of company-wide QA/QC process.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent English verbal and written communication
- Superior writing skills with strong technical writing, editorial, and proofreading expertise (general knowledge of A/E/C industry terms highly valued)
- Ability to read and comprehend technical or compliance instructions, presentations, and memos.
- Ability to observe details and make edits to ensure consistency.
- Ability to develop technical content.
- Can work under minimal guidance or supervision.
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to occasionally work outside of normal business hours.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience working with Adobe products, specifically InDesign.
- Knowledge of engineering, surveying and construction industry terminology and infrastructure projects preferred.
- Knowledge of CRM database systems.
- Ability to multi-task.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory or oversight responsibilities.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, or related field preferred. A minimum of three years working in professional communications and/or marketing, preferably in a professional services environment is required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles.
